The students of Sheridan High School enjoy the best of two worlds. A very extensive curriculum is offered in a small-school atmosphere. College credit courses, an academic honors program, and vocational classes at the J. Everett Light Career Center as well as in our own cooperative and vocational programs provide a diverse and challenging curriculum suited to the needs of any student. Opportunities in music, art and humanities provide for the well-rounded education of students. Remedial and enrichment courses are offered during the school year and during the summer to help students reach their potential and to broaden their horizons. Sheridan High School successfully prepares students to continue their education at a higher level with postsecondary and/or tech prep continuation programs or to enter the work force.
Positive recognition is an integral part of life at SHS. Students are recognized for achievement at Honors Night, as members of the National Honor Society, as honor roll students, as students with exemplary attendance records, and in the Student-of-the-Day, Student-of-the-Week, or Student-of-the-Month programs.
Students, parents, staff, community members and businesses work together to provide a stimulating and enjoyable school environment. The School Vision Team, made up of parents of SHS students, meets monthly during the school year to plan, evaluate, and suggest methods of improvements for the school. The success of Sheridan High School is truly a PARTNERSHIP IN EDUCATION between the school and community.
