Sheridan Community Schools is a member of the Hamilton, Boone, Madison Special Services Cooperative, which serves seven school corporations and has a main office located in Carmel.  Our school corporation houses four cooperative programs at the present time:  One middle school, one high school and two elementary learning disability classes; and one middle school mildly mentally handicapped class, a high school Life Skills program and emotionally handicapped class.  Six full-time  teachers and three assistants provide instruction for these classes.  These specialized instructors help meet the individual needs of their students and help create a least restrictive atmosphere for all students.

Part-time speech therapists are available for children who are experiencing articulation or language-related speech problems.  Other special related services are acquired through our
HBM Co-operative.

A gifted/talented program, SOAR (Striving for Optimum Academic Reward) facilitates accelerated learning experiences to students in grades 2-5.  Students progress through the curriculum practicing advanced problem-solving techniques and
acquiring skills that contribute to other academic successes, such as earning an Academic Honors Diploma.
